Take the extra step towards a life of learning!
Our Philosophy at Tender Loving childcare we believe each child learns through hands-on experiences with the world around them. We must provide opportunities for children to explore things they can see, hear, smell, taste, and touch as they are young scientists. The connections we help them make need to be relevant to them. While dragons and unicorns are fun to play with, they do not provide the same opportunity for learning and a deeper understanding as water, mud, their bodies, food, and their community. These are things they can hold in their hands and have experiences with.
Our program is responsible for providing an inclusive setting that recognizes children’s varied interests, learning styles, needs, and abilities. Our responsibility is to provide a classroom atmosphere where all children feel safe and nurtured. Here children do not make mistakes. Instead, they create more opportunities to explore the world around them.
We provide a foundation of developmentally appropriate experiences. We do this through meaningful play. Our play-based centered curriculum addresses; physical, cognitive, social, emotional, language, self-help, art, mathematics, and science for the child's total development. Meaningful play encourages curiosity, discovery, and problem-solving. This allows children to grow and develop a positive self-image. This positive self-image will help your child transition to kindergarten and ignite a passion for lifelong learning.
We recognize that parents are the child’s first teachers. You know how your child learns best. We are looking forward to hearing your ideas and feedback. We also encourage you to volunteer in the classroom and share your knowledge and expertise. We are excited to be a part of your community.
At Tender Loving Childcare, we actively promote the inclusive practice to best meet the needs of the facility's children, families, and staff. All children are welcome to attend our school regardless of ability, need, background, culture, religion, gender, or economic circumstances. Through inclusive practice, we aim to reflect the community and promote positive attitudes to both similarities and differences in each other. The curriculum, activities, books, materials, and environment are used to reflect the diversity of all children and families in the community. When necessary, we will provide modifications and adaptations to help all children achieve success in our program. We are happy to work with students with an IEP (Individualized Education Plan). We can assist parents with securing additional help and resources when there are mutual concerns about a child's development. Our program participates in Program for Subsidized Child Care payments. We also participate in Child Care Initiative program through Child Care Resource and Referral of Multnomah County. We also have access to child behavior specialists, inclusive partners, Multnomah Early childhood Program for early intervention services.
